Originally from Maui but now living on Oʻahu, Camarillo is a third-generation music teacher and professional musician, born into a family overflowing with rich musical talent, including his uncle, the late ʻukulele virtuoso Jesse Kalima, his multiple award-winning Aunty Lehua Kalima (Nā Leo Pilimehana, Kulāiwi), and more. Brother Kamaka is also a Nā Hōkū Award winner, and he, Kalaʻe, and Lehua were asked to perform together at the 2022 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards ceremonies.
When I Miss You was recorded at Zeo Music studios, with Imua Garza as both the engineer and the producer as well as playing bass, percussion, drums, and organ. Camarillo sang vocals and played 'ukulele and acoustic guitar.
