FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 12, 2018
Honolulu, HI – As a prelude to a long-awaited new album by fan favorite Sunway, she has released Storm, the first single from an album due out in early 2019. Storm was written by Sunway and her husband, multi-platinum award-winning composer Joerg Alfter, who also produced the single and played keyboards. Zanuck Lindsey (Kalapana, Kapala, Hula Joe and the Hutjumpers, and many more) lends his guitar expertise, and Arex Ikehara plays bass.
Fans who have watched the lyric video to “Storm” have praised the song’s energy and metaphors. One fan wrote, “The lyrics have a depth of feeling… There is pain; but also triumph, and spirit. It is the battle song of one [who] is both a survivor and a warrior.” Upon release to Sunway’s social media pages, the video immediately garnered nearly 5,000 “likes” and continues to grow - reminiscent of her 2010 video of The Boys of Summer, which ultimately accumulated nearly 75,000 “likes” on YouTube and attracted the attention of Warner Bros. France, resulting in its inclusion on California Groove III, a compilation CD that also featured such artists as Hall and Oates, Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Foreigner, Linda Ronstadt, Michael McDonald, Al Jarreau, the Doobie Brothers, Toto and more.
Sunway’s ability to engage on social media with her sense of humor, wry observations of everyday life, and stories about her cats has served her well. Followers and fans eagerly await her posts - and in turn, her music releases. It's been nearly five years since her last release, Honoli'i (a Hawaiian-themed ballad written to commemorate the late father of a friend who came from the song’s namesake town), so the unexpected release of Storm, with the promise of an album to come in the near future, was a welcome surprise.
Storm is now available as a digital download only on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and other digital platforms. (There are no plans to release it on CD.)
