Honolulu, HI – Following an eventful year which included an appearance on NBC’s hit show “The Voice”, Loa Greyson (also known as Tini Grey), traveled to Nashville to work with songwriter Chris Gelbuda (Meghan Trainor) who, along with GRAMMY® Award winner Tim Fagan (whose hits include the Colbie Caillat/Jason Mraz duet “Lucky” and John Mayer’s “Deeper”), wrote the song Waiting For Me on the Shore.
The song will strike a chord with islanders now living far from home, evoking both memories of that home and the excitement of returning there. As the first artist to record the song, Greyson explains, “I felt an instant and inexplicable connection to the song the minute I heard it.... [it] reminds me of a time when things were pure, honest, and authentic. It seemed to have been written especially for me. When I play it, I feel a sense of peace...”
Well-known in Hawai’i as Tini Grey, Greyson first recorded as a former member of the popular Polynesian R&B group Reign on their self-titled album (with fellow Reign members Kale Chang, Loa Faimealelei, Afatia Thompson, and Kuhio Yim). Upon moving to Southern California with wife Angela Baraquio Grey (Miss America 2001) and family, Greyson released a solo EP (Better Place, 2011), a full-length, all original solo album (Shades of Grey, released to critical acclaim in 2012), and a Christmas album (Thoughts of Christmas, 2013).
Of the change to his stage name, Greyson says, “Tinifuloa Grey is my family name. Tini was a nickname from when I was kid. Loa Greyson is who I am on stage. Like Clark Kent and Superman, I’m one and the same.”
Waiting For Me on the Shore was produced by Greyson and Gelbuda and recorded at Nashville’s Green Room (Rascall Flatts, Lady Antebellum, Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn). Grey played guitar and Gelbuda played all other instruments with the exception of the drums, played by Shawn Ishimoto (and recorded at S1 Studios in Fullerton, CA). Editing was by Marc Solomon of Hollywood Audio Lab. Corey Gonzalez of The Mix Service did the mastering. The single is available on iTunes and the Loa Greyson website.
